"Once when the elephant was very young, it was tied to a pole. Naturally, it didn’t like that and tried to escape, but try as it might, the rope and the pole were too strong for it. And so it learns that it can not break the rope. When it grows older it remains standing in the same place."

A limiting belief is a belief in one's own capabilities that may or may not be accurate.

Common types of limiting beliefs:

Hopelessness - related to the static world fallacy, it is impossible for you to change.

Helplessness - change is possible, but the prerequisites are inaccessible to you in particular.

Worthlessness - change is possible and accessible, but you are not worthy of the fruits of this change.
